Ohio Action Images sells photos online of sporting events they photograph from all over Ohio, so when designing their new website I focused on simplifying navigation and showcasing their work in a professional (but still cool) way.
On the tech side, a single HTML page serves as a cheap ‘database’ for storing information about different photo galleries (which are hosted on an external site), and PHP scripts are used to split and display that information on the relevant pages- the archives, recent galleries, and ticker on the homepage all get their data from a single source. This makes adding new galleries easy and takes the hassle of keeping the different lists in sync away from the photographers.

The most recently added galleries can be found in a side-scrolling ticker on the homepage

I wrestle for UT, and when I felt bad for not buying more shirts in our fundraiser I offered to redesign the teams website instead. It’s one of my newer designs, so I like to think its a little cleaner than some of my older work…

Let me know if you want a shirt, we still have a whole lot

I designed Oberlin House Of The Lord’s website from the ground up using logos and colors that matched their current identity and that of their parent organization.
Some cool stuff about oholf.org:
Custom Google Apps installation
The OHOLF.org domain has its own user portal of google applications on the back end, allowing members to check their email, edit the Public Events calendar, and send messages easily between each other. All of these applications are provided by Google, but work with emails and addressed @oholf.org instead of @gmail.com or @google.com
Live events feed
When the Public Events calendar is edited by a member of the OHOLF, the event automatically lists on the website in the Upcoming Events column, where visitors of the site can find out more information about the location, time, and description of events concerning the Oberlin House of the Lord

The Chalk Walk – one of the many Oberlin traditions that make it the town it is. Plus, it gives everyone something to do besides play frisbee, at least for one year of the summer.
I designed the Chalk Walk website to be as colorful as possible to match the spirit of the event. They already had a YouTube video and some photos, so I set up a flickr gallery and link to their video so anyone visiting the site could see their multimedia.
Check out the pics below for highlights!

Tandra asked if I could design her a website after seeing the amazing job I had done for the NAC, and I happily agreed. She already had a brochure out, so I tried to shape the site design around the colors, styles, and type of that publication.
I created all of the design elements in Photoshop. I think it turned out pretty well. Take a look at the gallery below for more pictures, or click the link above to visit the site.

- All artwork, banners, and styles used were created by me.
Working from the Bonomolo brochure, I designed the homepage to have an artistic look
-
- Dynamic portfolio of work
A dynamic image gallery lets users select different categories of previous work.
-
- Lightboxes are cool. I use them on a lot of my sites
Before jumping to the gallery, users can preview images in a popup lightbox
-
- Javascript fades images in and out
Before and after shots are faded together in a cool little slideshow

As one of my first clients, the New Agrarian Center got to deal with all my growing pains as a webmaster, with more than their fair share of lost email and web confusion. However, creating their site taught me how to ride the bike of web mastering – I scraped my knees a lot and spent more than enough late nights trying to figure out why my servers kept crashing, but as I learned new techniques and started to figure out what I was doing, their site has improved quite a bit.

I first met the NAC through an ad in my art room for an organization that needed new logos. A hundred bucks was more than enough for a couple hours of my time, so I photoshopped the NAC logos for them:
I don’t know how it turned into a webmastering job, but somehow I ended up designing their website. Over the years, more and more features have been added to the (now three) sites – photo galleries, calendars, workshop-signup forms…
Check out the pictures below or visit http://www.georgejonesfarm.org or http://www.cityfresh.org to see the sites for yourself.

Flickr integrated flash photo galleries automatically load new pics uploaded to flickr (if Brad would upload new ones…) |

Fully Contribute enabled (with templates) to let NAC members update the site themselves |

Online workshop signup forms and information |

Public newsletter system set up with PHPList lets the NAC easily send out emails to hundreds of people |
Testimonials from NAC Faculty:
“We started a small non-profit organization to support local food system development in Northeast Ohio. It has been great to work with amDesign. There is a quick turn around and just about every idea that we had for our web-site, Andy Miller was able to translate into a functional page. From the development of a multi-media page with short films about the organization to on-line communications between farmers and our inner-city distribution programs, Andy has mixed a great deal of creativity with a strong logical presentation of programs and information. As our organization grows, we become more complex. amDesign has successfully captured the many facets of our programs without overwhelming the user with information. His rates are very affordable given our limited budgets and the web-site has enabled us to more effectively reach our audiences.”

“Our organization The New Agrarian Center hired Andy Miller to develop our website. We are actually comprised of three separate organizations which needed different applications for the website, ranging from online membership and product marketing to member forums. He did an absolutely outstanding job for us. If we had an idea for the site, he would invariably come up with two or three possible solutions, and always worked quickly and efficiently. He also found a program which easily allows us to edit the web pages as needed. I would not hesitate to recommend him for any web design project as he is a creative thinker and problem solver with a great work ethic.”
